The students kicked it up a notch during the #BookSnapsWk2 Challenge! We had over 550 tweets made to the hashtag and some of these contained Padlet links of 20+ #BookSnaps each! I didn’t know how the #BookSnaps could get any more creative after week one, yet the students blew my mind once again! Check out the hashtag #BookSnapsWk2 or view our Storify presentation below. In fact, they were so amazing the judges chose nine winners to participate in two guest blog posts this week. Four of our guest bloggers’ work will be posted below, and another set of student authors will publish their work on Friday morning.

Hello, Twitter friends! My name is Armend. I go to Garfield Elementary In Collingswood, New Jersey (U.S). I lived in Albania before I moved to the U.S. I read the book Soccer Scoop by Matt Christopher. I think kids should read the book Soccer Scoop because they can learn new things about soccer. When they join a team in soccer, they will know what to do. I also liked the character, Mac Williams, because he became a goalie. I like being a goalie and I learned more about being a goalie. When I join a squad, I will be ready.
I like creating Book Snaps because I can share my Book Snap with other people in the world. It’s cool to share it with other people because they can give compliments and see things that I should work on. I like that I can create things on the computer.
You should read the book Bud, Not Buddy, written by Christopher Paul Curtis! It has a lot of emotions about family; emotions like sadness, loneliness, and anger. The main character Bud travels through Michigan looking for his dad. Along the way Bud goes on different adventures; one of my favorites was his trip to Hooverville with his best friend Bugs.Does Bud find his dad? Read the book to find out. Don’t forget to #booksnap along the way it really helps you understand what you’re reading. I hope you enjoy this book as much as I did.

This book is about a boy named Palmer who is scared to turn ten because when a male kids turn ten they have to be a wringer. In his town they earn money for a park with a pigeon shoot. Wringers go out and retrieve wounded pigeons to snap their necks to kill them quickly. He has tough choices to make between his friends and what he believes. This is a fantastic book with funny moments and sad moments. I can guarantee this book will make you laugh, as it did for me. But it might make you sad as well. I feel like I am like Palmer because he is a great kid; there is a time that I will have to do what he has to do in order to be true to myself. It can be hard to stand up for what is right. #Booksnaps are cool because they help you express emotions about what you are reading.

One Crazy Summer By Rita Williams-Garcia is an amazing realistic fiction book. Three girls fly from New York to Oakland, California to visit their mother. To me, Cecile, the mother of Delphine, Vonetta and Fern seems trapped in a bubble because she didn’t act like the mother she should have been. Each time Cecile would do something, the bubble would get bigger. Instead of cooking a proper dinner, she made Delphine walk to the store and get takeout. She let them go to San Francisco on a bus by themselves and Cecile got arrested by the police. In the end, when the sisters hug Cecile goodbye, I think that was just enough to pop Cecile’s bubble.
