Goal Crushers Crumble Sometimes

When considering the learners you serve, let’s not forget that even your high achievers have limits. Granted, they compete against themselves and seem to crush most any goal set in front of them. It seems to outsiders that they wear some sort of cape, but that is far from the truth. Yes, they work hard and never want to let others down, but they are only human.

Just like all humans, there are times when the Goal Crusher cannot take on one more thing. They think they can, but their judgment is skewed.

And that is when the inevitable happens.

The

Goal

Crusher

crumbles.

When the Goal Crusher crumbles, the disappointment they have in their lack of success is usually a painful enough consequence without any ridicule or hurtful words and actions. Instead, give them specific feedback and allow them to process how they will handle a similar situation next time. Be prepared; they will likely develop a comprehensive “next time” plan that will consider any and all obstacles that might hinder successful execution. Fear not, they will refuse to repeat the same mistake. They are learners; it is in their DNA.

If you’re a Goal Crusher, know one, or serve one, please be reminded–they crumble. They will learn through this life lesson, but they fall hard and break apart a little.

It just happens. It is part of being real.
