Moments. That’s where living really happens.I typed this in a text to a friend the other day, and it really stuck.Moments.Life is made of so many moments. Yet many times, we zoom through them and miss the beauty around us. Or, we are so focused on what we want to occur that we need to remember to enjoy what IS happening. We may be caught up in capturing the moment digitally that we miss the true enjoyment of it.Moments.There is indescribable life inside them.Every little thing. Even the tiniest of them.Laughing with someone so hard it hurts your tummy. The way your heart feels when he says, “You’re gorgeous.” That smile of accomplishment when learning clicks. The spunky strut of a puppy on a long walk. Hugging someone and realizing how much you love their existence. A special text that lifts the corners of your lips. This list could go on and on.One of my goals in life is to soak up more moments. Not to expect more from any given situation but to enjoy the things around me as they happen. We can’t control the future. We can’t control how others feel or think. And personally, I want to spend less time anticipating “what’s next,” “where is this going,” or “how do I reach the next level”…and just live.As I have switched my mind to begin thinking in such ways, I’ve found my life comprised of many more positive moments than negative ones. They might be tiny little things, but they are fulfilling in significant ways.Life can feel so big and sometimes scary, but moments are manageable. This is because they are given to us so frequently. Each day we wake up, with breath in our bodies, we have multiple opportunities to seize the moment. And, when one doesn’t feel right, there’s another behind it that could change the vibe completely.Moments.That’s where living really happens.
