Need a pick-me-up? I got you.
This post was inspired by the song The Champion.
“[Chorus: Carrie Underwood] I am invincible, unbreakable
Unstoppable, unshakeable
They knock me down, I get up again
I am the champion, you’re gon’ know my name
You can’t hurt me now, I can’t feel the pain
I was made for this, yeah, I was born to win
I am the champion, oh
How many times do we get knocked down and get back up again? Life is not kind and never stops throwing punches; it is inevitable. However, we are champions. As educators, we show this resilience for those we serve–students, staff, colleagues–day in and day out. We tell them to, “Never give up!” “Persevere.” We are their continual optimist and cheer them on with a go-get-em attitude. We are constantly telling our kiddos they are “unbreakable, unstoppable, unshakeable.” Right?
So, why when we are faced with that blow to the head (to the mind) do we stumble and doubt our courage, our perseverance our integrity? I know why. Our brains are powerful organs that need to be manhandled sometimes. True story. *wink* I hope the lyrics below will provide some overcoming synapse to begin to take hold and create a web of conquering connections in your mind and heart.
Take control peeps, YOU. ARE. CHAMPIONS!
Read and take in these lyrics!
[Verse 3: Ludacris] Born champion, Luda
The C is for the courage I possess through the trauma
H is for the hurt, but it’s all for the honor
A is for my attitude working through the patience
Money comes and goes, so the M is for motivation
Gotta stay consistent, the P is for persevere
The I is for integrity, innovative career
The O is optimistic, open and never shut
And the N is necessary ’cause I’m never givin’ upSee, they ask me how I did it, I just did it from the heart
[Chorus: Carrie Underwood] I am invincible, unbreakable
Crushin’ the competition, been doing it from the start
They say that every champion is all about his principles
Unstoppable, unshakeable
They knock me down, I get up again
I am the champion, you’re gon’ know my name
You can’t hurt me now, I can’t feel the pain
I was made for this, yeah, I was born to win
I am the champion”
Be strong. Not only are those you serve champions, but YOU were also born to win!
Put both hands up in the air; YOU Are A Champion!
Listen to the entire song here; be encouraged. You are a champion!
I am an educator who values the individuality and uniqueness of others. Writing the blog R.E.A.L. is an outlet for me to pay it forward by sharing ideas, influences, lessons learned and exposing a little vulnerability while encouraging others to maximize their R.E.A.L. potential, as well.
